How to use MapLoader
MapLoader updates the iGO My way navigation software and its maps, and also assists you in safely managing map files. Using MapLoader you can easily and quickly have the maps downloaded from or uploaded to your SD memory card or device according to your current needs and the available storage space. In addition, MapLoader provides you information on your current maps and lets you know if you are entitled to download any updates..
Unlike Updater, the new MapLoader application does not download the update components (software, maps, etc.) from the Internet but includes them all in a self-contained package. You only need an Internet connection to authenticate your copy of the navigation software to be updated.
To use MapLoader, first you need to register yourself and the product you have purchased. Please see the Installation Guide for details on how to register.
The main screen of MapLoader displays a two-column map list. On the left you find the locally available (downloaded) maps, while on the right the maps installed in the iGO My way product (residing on the SD memory card or PNA device). Both columns provide 3 details:
- The name of the country whose map is stored in the map file
- The size of the map
- The 6-digit version number of the map
In addition, 3 icons indicate what you can do with the maps:
- The green ‘up’ arrow shows a recommended update. You can also identify updates based on the version number of the map.
- The blue equal sign means that the map currently installed in iGO My way and the locally available map are identical. No update is needed in this case.
- The grey ‘down’ arrow indicates that the map currently installed in iGO My way is newer than the one locally available.
To create a backup of your iGO My way software, click the [Backup] button in the upper part of the MapLoader window. MapLoader can make a single backup copy of your software. We recommend you make a backup copy before updating your maps.
Click [Restore] to restore the previously saved backup copy.
The upper part of the screen also displays a drop-down language selection field, set by default to the language of the operating system. Next to it is a connection icon in green or red depending whether the connection with the iGO My way server is active or not.
Select the maps to update/install and click the [Install] button. If there is not enough free space on the SD memory card or on the PNA device, MapLoader displays an error message. In that case you need to remove the old maps.
MapLoader ignores selections for identical versions in both columns. To restore a corrupted map, first you need to remove the old one on the right and then reinstall.
